At LVS Hassocks, we have been delighted to partner with The Band Project to provide high-quality peripatetic music lessons across drums, guitars, keyboards and vocals. All of our students have autism as their primary need, and the programme has opened up unique opportunities for them to express themselves, develop new skills, and experience the joy of making music. The Band Project coaches are not only talented musicians but are also developing their expertise in engaging autistic students. They approach lessons with patience, flexibility and creativity, ensuring that each student can participate at their own pace and in their own way. This has enabled learners who might not otherwise have accessed music to actively engage, build confidence and enjoy performing.
We have already seen clear progress in musical ability and self-expression, alongside wider benefits such as improved communication, focus and social interaction. The Band Project is now a valued part of our school’s provision, and we look forward to continuing this partnership.
