The Band Project is running FREE 1 hour workshops for all 3 of our courses the weekend of October 3rd and 4thEach workshop is an example of a typical weekly session to give everyone taking part a taste of The Band Project experience and our relaxed and supportive approaches to learning music and playing in a band.
For The Band Project Juniors (ages 4 – 7) groups will get to explore the drums and rhythm through a mix of free play and structured group playing. For older Juniors and those who have already started lessons they will have their first taste of playing in a band learning a section from a song looking at the basics of playing with other people in a band setting.
For 8 – 18 year olds and Adult groups, ages 19+, the workshop is an authentic band practice spent learning and arranging the groups chosen song with their tutor. Tutors will guide bands through their parts, core band skills and depending on experience explore arrangement ideas, solos, techniques, intercepting songs in different styles etc to create something unique to each band. Band workshops are open to the core band line up (vocals, guitar, keys, bass and drums) alongside wider instruments for example Brass and Wind. We even once had an electric bag pipe player!

Sessions are happening in the following locations:

Brighton – Under The Bridge Studios, BN1
Camden – Creation Studios, NW1
Chichester – Airtight Studios, PO20
Chiswick – Arch Studios, W6
Guildford – Silent Hill Studios, GU4
Little Venice – Westbourne Studios, W2

Workshop’s are available 11am – 5pm both days to ensure theres a slot that works for you.
All sessions will be socially distanced working with really small numbers – a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 5 per band. Bands are grouped by age and experience to make sure they are the best fit socially and musically.  All of our tutors are DBS checked.
Places are limited due to small numbers per group so booking early is advised.

The Band Project Juniors for 4 to 7 year olds is a brilliant introduction to the core rock band instruments as well as playing and performing in a group. The Juniors course lays the foundations for groups to start their bands, discover the instrument(s) they love and want to play, and gives budding little rock stars the chance to play their first gig!

The Band Project for 8 – 18 year olds offers weekly one or two hour rehearsals in fully equipped practice rooms, gigging musicians as tutors and end of course gigs in real venues. For older students in this age group The Band Project’s courses support units of GCSE and A-Level music and can be used for the Duke of Edinburgh awards. As bands develop, and if requested, we can also include songwriting within the sessions so bands can perform originals at their gigs.

The Band Project Adults is aimed for anyone 19+ years old who always dreamed of playing in a band or maybe used to play in a band and want to find a way back into. The course follows the same model as the 8 – 18 year old sessions with weekly one or two hour rehearsals, gigging musicians as tutors and gigs in real venues for friends and family. It’s a socially orientated, relaxed and non judgemental environment for anyone joining to have fun, play great music, meet new friends and maybe do something you never thought you could.
