Who teaches you to play an instrument is so important. They should inspire, encourage, push and help develop a real love of playing.
The Band Project’s one to one lessons always start with the same question – what does the student want to achieve? It doesn’t matter if it’s a few chords to play a favourite song, Grades to reach a required standard or to fulfill a life time ambition of singing/playing – whatever it is that’s where it starts. Our instrument lessons continue the same bespoke approach to learning music we use with our band courses.
Band Project tutors are chosen because they are passionate and inspiring individuals who care about seeing their students achieve their goals with their playing. Every tutor holds a DBS check and is trained by The Band Project founder Chris Mountford to deliver our company philosophy and experience.
Lessons through The Band Project are booked in blocks of five or ten. We offer an initial session to ensure that the tutor chosen is the right fit and we won’t take it personally if you’d like to try another member of our team.

‘It has always been a struggle to find a music tutor who is not only current but is also talented, passionate and patient. Our tutor from The Band Project was exactly that and gave Gen all the skills to believe in herself. She has gained a huge amount of confidence from her lessons and has gone from someone who used to look down at the floor playing to holding her head up high.
An added bonus was the help she received for her composition work in music GCSE. This was gold dust as she had little input from her school as they mainly focus on the more classical instruments. However what I think she loves most about her lessons is playing the music she loves and rocking out with her tutor!’
